Today’s blog post is about my recent Living Room Transformation with just Farrow and Ball White Paint! I have been wanting to repaint the living room for ages and I always knew it was going to be a Farrow and Ball white paint!
White is modern, timeless and looks stunning in period properties as well.
Why I chose THIS Farrow and Ball white?
Because this hue from Farrow & Ball is a clean white with a hint of grey (not blue) and a hint of pink too so it has real depth and interest. It looks sophisticated but at the same time understated, smart and elegant. I love it. The room is south facing so it’s definitely very bright so I need to break it with strong materials, plants, and soft furniture.
I was inspired by Nordic interiors as well as Parisian Haussman-style apartments.
Thankfully our walls were good quality so the preparation was minimal.
I thought about having it done by a decorator but as I had a little time on my hands, I decided to save the money and do it myself but if that seems a chore I’d recommend doing it by a professional. It a physical exercise. In total it took three full days.
Tools and materials used:

- Farrow and Ball Wevet Estate Emulsion
- Farrow and Ball Wevet Estate Eggshell for the wood trims
- Sanding Paper 120 Grid
- 1 inch Small Paint Brush
- 7 inch Paint Roller + Tray
- Any Quality White Paint in Matt for walls (1 coat as an undercoat as my wall colour was quite dark)

To protect the areas I used:
- Kip Masking Tap
- Diall Cotton Dust Sheet
- Full Body Coverall
Step-By-step:
1- Remove dust from the walls and clean any dirt
2- Give a little sand on any imperfection. Here typically you’d use filler on holes or cracks but our walls were ok so I didn’t need to do that.
3- Protect the furniture and flooring and start painting!
4- I started with the walls and finished with the wall panels, dado rail and skirting.
3 coats later (1x undercoat, 2x paint coats) and it was completed!
Tip: Sand a little bit between coats where you see imperfections
And here we have my own personal chic elegant living room inspired by Haussmann Parisian apartments but with a British touch.
